VALENTINE’S DAY DINNERS IN THE PHILADELPHIA REGION

Fond, the refined and contemporary French BYOB from celebrated chefs Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki-Styer, will celebrate Valentine’s Day with an elevated multi-course menu priced at $125 per person. The first course begins with Celery Root Velouté, served with melted leeks, pancetta, and celery. The second course offers a choice of Beet Salad with goat cheese, frisée, and pecans; Bay Scallop Ceviche with mango, lime, cilantro, and charred avocado; or Seared Foie Gras paired with Asian pear, cinnamon gastrique, and truffle-whipped ricotta (additional $15). For the third course, diners can enjoy a Seafood Terrine featuring scallop, shrimp, crab, braised Belgian endive, and saffron sauce. The fourth course includes options such as Pork Belly with French lentils, frisée, and Dijon jus; Monkfish Marsala with maitake mushrooms and capellini gâteau; or Surf and Turf with strip loin, shrimp, crispy potato terrine, creamed spinach, and sauce beurre rouge (additional $18 supplement).The evening concludes with a dessert of Vanilla Bavarian, featuring dark chocolate crémeux, almond cake, red berries, raspberry coulis, and ginger white chocolate ganache.

Jansen, Mt. Airy’s contemporary and award-winning New American restaurant led by Chef David Jansen, invites guests to indulge in a romantic dining experience this Valentine’s Day. Throughout the weekend, diners can savor a decadent four-course tasting menu priced at $125 per person, featuring three savory courses and a dessert. Optional upgrades, such as foie gras, caviar, and lobster, are available for those looking to enhance their meal. 

The menu features:

  • Snow Crab Vol-au-Vent: Meyer lemon, poppy seed, puff pastry, and caviar
  • Crudo Duet: Tuna and snapper with orange balsamic gastrique, fire-roasted pepper, and mezza arugula
  • Choice of Main Course: Beef Filet or Fluke Roulade with braised leeks, lobster & pommes dauphine, basil pesto, and natural jus or fennel vermouth cream
  • Chocolate Raspberry Torte: Chocolate cake, raspberry mousse, and dark chocolate glaze

Imbibers can toast to love with the featured cocktail, American Beauty ($17), a sparkling wine blend with fresh strawberry purée, rose water, and prosecco.

Little Walter’s, Philadelphia’s contemporary Polish restaurant and bar from Chef/Owner Michael Brenfleck, and recently named in The New York Times’ 2024 Restaurant List as one of America’s 50 Favorite Places, will offer its regular dinner service alongside an exclusive Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. This five-course experience is priced at $200 per couple (excluding tax, gratuity, and drinks). The five-course menu includes:

  • Chleb: Beet Marble Rye with cultured dill butter and smalec; Everything Spice Lavash Cracker with smoked mackerel rillette
  • Surowka: Pickled Mushrooms with marjoram and appalachian truffle; Carrot and Radicchio with sunflower butter and horseradish
  • Pierogi: Butter-Poached Lobster Pierogi with herb sour cream, grilled broccolini, and caviar
  • Gołąbki: Duck Confit Cabbage Roll with sunchoke, duck breast, orange, and coriander
  • Deser: Chocolate Karpatka with goat cheese sweet cream and bison grass cherries

Mona, a néos-Mediterranean, island-inspired restaurant and bar located in the heart of Midtown Village, Center City, Philadelphia, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a sweet indulgence through spirited sippers and decadent desserts. Red Owl Tavern, the contemporary kitchen and bar located across from Independence Hall in Old City, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a special prix fixe dinner menu, available February 13 through February 15, for $58 per person. Guests will indulge in three decadent courses, starting with an appetizer such as Pear + Parsnip Ravioli with speck and sage crumb, Baked Valbresso Feta wrapped in phyllo with Aleppo + sumac honey, Fermented Cucumber paired with tzatziki broth and za’atar lavash, or the ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ featuring fried artichokes, salmoriglio, and Calabrian aioli. Entrée selections include Steak Frites, an 8oz. hanger steak with herb butter, frites, and sauce au poivre; Charred Salmon with lemon orzo and urfa labneh; or Chanterelle + Morel Mushroom Risotto with local Amish butter, parmesan brood, and crispy garlic chips. Finish with a dessert like Peanut Butter-Chocolate Bavarois topped with 24k gold dust, dark chocolate caramel, and salted peanut praline, or the Macallan Butterscotch Budino with whipped crème fraîche, chocolate ganache, olive oil, and sea salt. 

Red Owl Tavern will also be mixing three feature cocktails for the occasion: Con Amor (with love), comprising Codigo Tequila, Damiana, Pomegranate, lime, and egg white; Till Death Do Us Part with strawberry Tanqueray Gin, Lillet Rose, Cointreau, lemon, and absinthe-rinsed glass; and A Choco-lot of Love with Tito’s Vodka, chocolate, espresso, and Kahlua. All priced at $17 each.

The evening begins with Charcuterie and Corn and Crab Chowder, followed by a refreshing intermezzo of Pink Champagne Sorbet and a vibrant Baby Spinach and Strawberry Salad. For the main course, highlights include Crab Cakes ($85)paired with au gratin potatoes, haricot verts, and a luscious lemon beurre blanc; Center Cut 8oz Filet Mignon ($95)with au gratin potatoes, haricot vert, in a peppercorn-brandy sauce; Seafood Risotto ($85) brimming with lobster tail, scallops, shrimp, and clams; Roasted French Breast of Chicken ($75), served with saffron rice, haricot verts, and an armagnac velouté; and a 6oz Center Cut Filet paired with a 4oz Crab Cake ($95) served alongside au gratin potatoes and haricot verts, and complemented by both a peppercorn brandy sauce and lemon beurre blanc.
