Imbibers can toast to Earth Day (Monday, April 22nd) and beyond with sustainable spirits such as Bluebird Distilling’s Breakwater Bourbon, Tamworth Distilling’s Chocorua Straight Rye whiskey, and House of Tamworth Saison De Frai — with each brand donating a portion of sales towards impactful local conservation efforts!

Tamworth Distilling also created a crabby concoction for a cause with Crab Trapper — a whiskey flavored with invasive green crabs wreaking havoc on the New England coastline, because if you cant beat ‘em, drink ‘em?!

Please see below for more information on a couple of craft spirits with a mission – saving the planet, one dram at a time.

Breakwater Bourbon

Jared Adkins, Founder and Master Distiller of Bluebird Distilling, the award-winning grain-to-glass Pennsylvania distillery, is thrilled to announce a recent partnership with the Jetty Rock Foundation, the 501(C)3 nonprofit arm of the coastal lifestyle and apparel brand Jetty. Available now, 10% of proceeds from brand-new Breakwater Bourbon will be directly applied to the maintenance, protection and care of oceans and waterways.

The well-aged, lightly smoked bourbon captures the flavors of coastal adventure and marks the shared appreciation for our environment shared by Bluebird Distilling and The Jetty Rock Foundation, whose work includes fundraising through community events, sponsorships, planned giving, private donations and sales of Jetty Rock Oysters.

Inspired by late-summer fireside hangs, Breakwater Bourbon is now available for purchase on Bluebird Distilling’s online store nationwide. | Instagram: @bluebirddistilling

House of Tamworth Crab Trapper Whiskey

Tamworth Distilling’s House of Tamworth Crab Trapper Whiskey (200ml, 92 proof, $64.99) is made with a seacret ingredient – green crabs. In collaboration with the University of New Hampshire, the distillery uses an innovative method to get rid of invasive green crabs wreaking havoc on the New England coastal ecosystem. The unique spirit presents an unexpected heat likened to what distillery founder, Steven Grasse, describes as a “briny and better Fireball.”

This spirit flooded the news when it went viral — it was featured on outlets such as The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Food & Wine, NPR, Forbes, USA Today, VinePair, and more! It was also featured in the 2023 Food & Wine Drinks Innovators of The Year

House of Tamworth Saison De Frai

Meet House of Tamworth Saison De Frai, the latest addition to Tamworth Distilling’s line of weird whiskies, inspired by the Swift River, located steps away from the rural New Hampshire distillery. $1 from each bottle sold will benefit Trout Unlimited and their mission of keeping our country’s cold-water fisheries and their watersheds safe from environmental threats for this and future generations of anglers to enjoy. It also supports the distillery’s quest to care for, and recover, the Swift River and restore its thriving population of wild and native trout.

Each bottle of Saison De Frai features a small scoop of trout roe that has been carefully preserved in apple brandy, adding an exciting element to the liquid — similar to tapioca pearls in bubble tea. The bottles are adorned with a trout shaped label and a hand-tied Royal Coachman Hookless Practice Fly.

Chocorua Straight Rye Whiskey

Tamworth Distilling is thrilled to announce the partnering of flagship spirit Chocorua Straight Rye Whiskey with the Chocorua Lake Conservancy, based in New Hampshire. Comprised of house-made grain, locally grown herbs and botanicals, and pure water, Chocorua Straight Rye Whiskey ($55/750ml) is the embodiment of Tamworth’s scratch made ethos that gives back to the land it stems from. Each purchase of the 100% organic rye whiskey pays forward $1 to the protection and maintenance of the majestic Chocorua Mountain and Chocorua Lake Basin via donation to the Chocorua Lake Conservancy.

Eco-friendly imbibers can give back to the environment while gifting themselves via Tamworth Distilling’s website. Read more about Chocorua Lake Conservancy’s land and water initiatives here. | Instagram: @tamworth_distilling
