September 28, 2023 — In anticipation of spooky szn, we’re sharing a bevy of spook-tacular cocktails courtesy of Coopers’ Craft Bourbon, the Brown-Forman spirit that honors the men and women who raise the barrels, The Pathfinder Hemp and Root, the zero-proof elixir shaking up the beverage world (sober AND non), and Bluebird Distilling, Phoenixville’s award-winning grain-to-glass craft distillery. From ghoulish garnishes to delectable fall flavors, imbibers can whip up these scary good recipes that are sure to cause a thrill.

Coopers’ Caramel Apple  

Recipe courtesy of Fitz Bailey, Brown-Forman mixologist  

Ingredients: 

  • 1.5 oz. Coopers’ Craft Barrel Reserve   
  • 5 oz. Apple cider  
  • 1 oz. Caramel syrup (store-bought or homemade***)

Glassware: Irish coffee glass / glass mug  

Instructions: Heat cider to the desired temperature, add bourbon and caramel syrup, pour into mug and garnish.  

Garnish: Cinnamon sticks, apple slice  

***Caramel Syrup recipe:   

Ingredients: 

  • .5 cup Butter  
  • 1 cup Sugar  
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh lemon juice 
  • .75 cup Whipping cream  

Instructions: Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; add sugar and lemon juice, and cook, stirring constantly, 5 to 6 minutes or until mixture turns a caramel color. Gradually add whipping cream, and cook, stirring constantly, 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 week.

Ingredients:   

  • 1.5 oz Coopers’ Craft Barrel Reserve  
  • 1 oz Campari  
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth  

Glassware: Rocks  

Instructions: Stir with ice, strain, garnish with orange peel and serve over cube  

Garnish: Orange peel

Grubby Bloody Hands

Ingredients:  

  • .75 oz. The Pathfinder Hemp and Root  
  • .75 oz. Appleton signature  
  • .2 oz. Black strap  
  • .75 oz. Raspberry squid ink syrup  
  • .5 oz. Lemon  
  • 1 Egg white 

Glassware: Pousse Café 

Instructions: Double shake ingredients, double strain into glass. 

Garnish: Angostura bitters art

Chicory Treat 

Ingredients: 

  • 1.5 oz Spiced Pumpkin Dark Rum 
  • .75 oz Cold Brew Syrup 
  • .75 oz Orgeat 
  • 3 dashes Chicory Pecan Bitters 

Glassware: Coupe 

Instructions: Shake all ingredients vigorously, and strain into glass.

Garnish: Dusting of pumpkin spice seasoning with festive stencil
