Reviving the beloved landmark with two centuries of history, this storied address at 101-105 South Queen Street is being reborn as an intimate 11-room luxury retreat, thoughtfully designed to honor its historic architecture while offering guests modern comfort and elevated hospitality. We couldn’t be more excited to help tell The Swan Hotel’s story of heritage, craftsmanship, and renewal, and to introduce the charming hotel’s new chapter in Lancaster.
The Chestnut Hill Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historical, architectural, and cultural resources and the open spaces that define the character of Chestnut Hill and surrounding communities in the Wissahickon watershed for over 55 years. Now in its 9th year, The Conservancy’s Night of Lights streetscape exhibition transforms Chestnut Hill’s main street, Germantown Avenue, into a vibrant four-night visual experience, illuminating local histories, landscapes, and architecture of Northwest Philadelphia. Beginning Friday, October 2 through Monday, October 5th, storefront windows project archival images from the Conservancy and other historical catalogues. Guests are invited to gather at the Chestnut Hill Conservancy, located at 8708 Germantown Avenue, beginning at 6:30PM, ahead of the annual festivities’ “Flip the Switch” opening ceremony on Friday, October 2, at 7PM. Following the illumination ceremony — which will showcase this year’s new lighting design on the Conservancy’s historic headquarters — Germantown Avenue will come alive with live music, local storytellers, interactive activities, vendors, giveaways, and additional First Friday offerings hosted by the Chestnut Hill Business District (CHBD) throughout the neighborhood.
