In honor of National Seafood Month, Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs are spotlighting standout destinations for seafood lovers. As summer gets underway, there’s no better time to lean into the season’s bright, ocean-forward flavors—from chilled oysters and seafood towers to crudos, ceviches, and thoughtfully prepared fish dishes that highlight fresh, coastal inspiration. Across the region, restaurants are showcasing seafood in a variety of styles, whether through polished raw bar programs, refined entrées, or menus that lean fully into the bounty of the sea. Alice, a seasonal American restaurant found in the heart of the Italian Market, celebrates the bounty of the sea with a menu of refined crudos, shellfish, and shareable seafood dishes. Oyster offerings include Barnegat Bay Oysters ($19) topped with cucumber and avocado, alongside Coal Roasted Oysters ($22) finished with garlic lager butter and house hot sauce. Seafood standouts include KanpachiCrudo ($28) with cara cara orange, serrano chile, and nigella; French White Asparagus ($25) with littleneck clams, ramps, and beurre blanc, BluefinToro Tartare ($34) served with fennel pollen potato chips and osetra caviar; Coal Roasted Octopus ($28) with green chile and preserved lemon; Grilled Spicy Prawns ($29) with saffron, lemon, and purslane; Tagliatelle ($32) with blue crab, Calabrian chile, and oregano; and Coal Roasted Bluefin Tuna ($45) accompanied by fiddleheads, fava beans, and green olive vinaigrette. Perfect for sharing, the Grilled Whole Branzino ($75), designed for two, is served with satsuma, baby fennel, and fresh herbs.

Almyra, the lively and upscale modern Greek restaurant and bar from the acclaimed Estia Restaurant Group, brings the flavors of the Mediterranean to Rittenhouse with a menu centered around fresh seafood, raw bar selections, and coastal Greek specialties. Standout raw bar offerings include Lavraki Ceviche ($20) with tomato, feta, and gigante beans; Crispy Rice ($19) topped with tuna, avocado, and olive; and Duo Tartare ($21), featuring salmon, tuna, and taro chips. Additional seafood favorites include Charred Octopus ($19) served with fava, capers, and pickled shallot, as well as seafoodkebabs including Salmon ($26) with tomato, cucumber, and lemon and Shrimp ($27) with metaxa, red onion, and cherry tomato. Additionally, Almyra’s daily happy hour from 4–6 pm features happy hour-exclusive bites, including a Crab Wonton ($7) with feta, dill, and sweet Calabrian chili, alongside happy hour-portions of Crispy Rice ($8) and Salmon Skewers ($8).

Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Center City’s swanky year around rooftop lounge boasting unparalleled views of the Art Museum, City Hall and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is the perfect summer destination to enjoy refreshing coastal bites. Highlights include  Tuna Poke ($18) served with citrus ponzu, chili aioli, taro chips, and cucumbers; Laguna Blanca Salmon Cake ($17) with sauce ravigote, frisee, and pickled onions; and Chilled Shrimp ($18) served with horseradish cocktail sauce, pickled vegetables, and cucumbers. Bolo, Chef Yun Fuentes’ Latin American dining room and rum bar nestled in bustling Rittenhouse Square, brings bold coastal flavors to Center City with a menu centered around fresh seafood, vibrant crudos, and Latin-inspired preparations. Highlights include a trio of ceviches: Salmon y Piña ($23) with ají amarillo, pineapple pique, and pickled radish; Tuna con Coco ($25) featuring Thai young coconut salsa, pickled chilies, and scallions; and Snapper Nikkei ($27) with key lime-ponzu, serrano chile, citrus fruit, and garlic bits. From the Pa’ Picar selection, guests can enjoy Smoked Mussels Escabeche ($21) with Bang Island mussels, pimentón escabeche, and coconut arepas, as well as Camarón Pinchos ($9 each) marinated in parsley and garlic picante, served with smoked pineapple BBQ and ají picante crunch. For a heartier entrée, the Seafood Asopao ($45) features halibut over saffron and pigeon pea porridge with shrimp, scallops, and calamari.

Estia Philadelphia, the modern Greek restaurant known for its whole fish and Mediterranean cuisine, offers a selection of fresh coastal specialties that highlight the flavors of the sea. Guests can enjoy expertly prepared seafood dishes, crafted with the restaurant’s signature commitment to quality, tradition, and freshness. Fan-favorite seafood mezedes include the Octopodi ($23), charcoal-grilled octopus served with pickled red onion, Holland peppers, capers, and extra virgin olive oil and the Duo Tartare ($23), featuring diced yellowfin tuna and salmon with avocado, soy dressing, scallions, shallots, lemon juice, chives, and wasabi roe, served with crispy potato chips. 

From the entrées, highlights include the Lobster Linguine ($45), made with fresh lobster sautéed with cherry tomatoes and linguini in a brandy-infused tomato sauce, finished with grated feta and fresh basil; the Chilean Sea Bass Plaki ($50), oven-baked in a tomato-based sauce with onions, tomatoes, green peppers, carrots, potatoes, capers, and thyme; and the Swordfish Souvlaki ($39), a charcoal-grilled preparation with tomatoes, onions, peppers, ladolemono, and capers. Estia’s whole fish selection is sourced directly from the Mediterranean Sea and flown in to ensure peak freshness and authenticity. A standout favorite, the Lavraki ($36), a whole European sea bass simply prepared on a charcoal grill and presented with ladolemono and capers, remains a signature standout offering at the restaurant.

Fond, the refined and contemporary French BYOB from celebrated chefs Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki-Styer, showcases seasonal seafood through a thoughtfully composed menu rooted in classic French technique. Starter highlights include Octopus ($19) with piperade, frisée, garlic croutons, and caper aioli, as well as the Crab & Strawberry Salad ($18) with white miso and black sesame. Front Street Café, the all-day café, restaurant and bar known for its farm-to-table approach, pairs fresh seafood with seasonal produce and globally inspired flavors across its dinner menu. Shareable highlights include Fried Calamari ($16) served with buttermilk, lemon za’atar aioli, crispy kale, and fried jalapeños, as well as the Shrimp Scampi Flatbread ($16) topped with shrimp, parmesan, broccolini, lemon-herb butter, and roasted peppers. Red Owl Tavern, the contemporary kitchen and bar located across from Independence Hall, showcases seafood-forward dishes that blend seasonal ingredients with bold, approachable flavors. Square 1682, the modern American upbeat kitchen located on the ground level of the Kimpton Hotel Palomar, incorporates seafood throughout its seasonal menu with a selection of shareable plates and entrées. Stella of New Hope, the modern American restaurant located within the Ghost Light Inn overlooking the Delaware River, is a standout destination for seafood lovers.
