Seaview is a quintessential luxury seaside resort on the New Jersey shore, just eight miles from Atlantic City. The 670-acre retreat blends architectural beauty with historic turn-of-the-century charm, offering all of the services and amenities today’s travelers and meeting planners require, including 34,500 square feet state-of-the-art meeting and event space, 296 guest rooms, award-winning dining, a fitness center, an indoor pool (the original built in 1914), seasonal outdoor pool, art gallery, and it’s pet friendly.
Seaview opened in 1914 as a private golf club. Philadelphia businessman, Clarence Geist, was tired of waiting to get on the first tee at a local club, so he decided to build his own. Since then, the hotel has played host to a long list of presidents, rock stars, golf’s greatest (Grace Kelly hosted her Sweet 16 in the Oval Room in 1945, the Rolling Stones took up residence during their 1989 Steel Wheels Tour, Sam “Slammin’ Sammy” Snead won his first of seven majors on the Pines course in 1942, etc.).
The hotel has two of the most historic and challenging courses in North America:
- Designed by Hugh Wilson and Donald Ross, the Bay Course opened in 1914. This links-style course is not a test of length, rather a test of imagination, accuracy, and short game. The course features dramatic seaside views, deep pot bunkers, and small undulating greens and is host to the annual ShopRite LPGA Classic. In 2022, the Bay Course underwent a near $700k renovation to enhance the aesthetics and playability, including rebuilding the bunkers and a major cart path upgrade.
- The Pines Course opened in 1929 and was designed by William Flynn and Howard Toomey. Unlike the Bay Course, the Pines winds its way through New Jersey woodlands. Expect elevation changes and doglegs on this longer, resort-style course featuring doglegs and 72 sand bunkers amid gently sloping greens. Sam “Slammin’ Sammy” Snead won his first of seven majors on this course in 1942 with a remarkable 60-foot chip-in on the 16th hole.
In celebration of National Golf Month, Seaview is offering a Junior Golf Camp from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8. Kids ages from 6-16 will receive instruction on all aspects of the game—from swing fundamentals to on-course etiquette and rules—and participate in fun and engaging games that make learning golf both exciting and rewarding.
