With Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 11) fast approaching, it’s the ideal time to spotlight some of the Philadelphia area’s finest dining experiences honoring mothers and mother figures this year. Jansen, Mt. Airy’s contemporary and award-winning New American restaurant by Chef David Jansen, is celebrating Mother’s Day with a three-course tasting menu for $95 per person, available on Sunday, May 11 from 3 to 7pm. The menu features seasonal starters such as Snow Crab Arancini with avocado and green goddess dressing, Lamb Terrine with spring onion pesto and brown butter brioche, and Heirloom Tomato Panzanella with buffalo mozzarella and green garlic purée. Entrée highlights include Guajillo Lime Wagyu Steak with chimichurri and avocado crema, Chicken Milanese with asparagus and prosciutto roulade, and Crab & Mustard-Crusted Halibut with sweet pea risotto and chive-caviar beurre blanc. For dessert, guests can choose between Jansen’s signature Love Cake or the “Cara”misu.

Liberté Lounge, the contemporary French-inspired restaurant and lounge within Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square,  is celebrating Mother’s Day with an indulgent brunch buffet in Chez Collette, priced at $79 per person. First course selections include French Cheese Display, Pheasant Terrine, Spring Pea Soup, and Caprese Mozzarella & Heirloom Tomato Salad. Main course highlights include Pinot Noir–Braised Beef Short Ribs, Rosemary Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Pennsylvania Maple–Glazed Heirloom Rainbow Baby Carrots, and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. A carving station will feature Spice Roasted Salmon with grilled herbs and Whole New York Strip Loin with Pinot Noir Sauce. For dessert, guests can enjoy Strawberry Shortcake Parfaits, Lemon Curd Cupcakes, Chocolate Bread Pudding, Pear Frangipane Tartlets, Madeleines, and Spritz Cookies.

In addition to Sunday’s buffet experience, Liberté Lounge will host a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on both Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 from 12–2 PM. Priced at $55 per person, the tea includes a complimentary “Momosa” cocktail.

Little Walter’s, the contemporary Polish restaurant and bar from Chef/Owner Michael Brenfleck, will offer a complimentary spritz to all mothers dining in on Sunday, May 11. Dubbed Matka—the Polish word for “mother”—the spritz special features housemade Angelika, sparkling rosé, and strawberries. Angelika is a bitter herbal liqueur crafted in-house, similar in style to Aperol, and “red berries,” a common term in Poland, refers specifically to strawberries in this preparation. In addition to the special, Little Walter’s will serve its standing Sunday brunch menu, which features modern takes on classic Polish fare such as Babka ($9) (french toast) with apple powidła and black walnut butter; Tost z Awokado ($16) with toasted rye, avocado, jammy egg, and roe; and Kurczak z Rożna ($35), a rotisserie chicken dish with potatoes and cabbage.

Red Owl Tavern, the contemporary kichen and bar located across from Independence Hall in Old City, is honoring moms all weekend long with a lineup of elevated brunch specials. The festive offerings include Sourdough Beignets ($13) dusted with lavender sugar and served with strawberry-rhubarb compote and whipped mascarpone; a hearty Pork Belly “BLT” ($21) layered with smoked pork belly, heirloom tomato, arugula, a fried egg, and chipotle mayo; and the Smoked Salmon “Benny” ($27), a savory twist on a classic featuring crispy latkes, two poached eggs, and rich hollandaise. Townsend, Chef Townsend Wentz’s acclaimed French restaurant and bar on East Passyunk Ave, is honoring all mothers and mother figures with an elevated four-course tasting menu priced at $75 per person available exclusively on Mother’s Day. The special menu features Oysters & Cucumbers to start, followed by Rabbit Tortellini with spring vegetables for the second course. The third course showcases Duck Breast with pavé, maitake mushrooms, and pickled ramps. To finish, guests will enjoy a decadent Chocolate Soufflé with Pernod anglaise. In addition, Townsend will offer its signature Sunday Happy Hour from 4:30–6:30 PM, featuring a $35 prix fixe menu and $10 specialty cocktails—perfect for toasting the occasion.
