Culinary Careers Program (C-CAP) is thrilled to formally announce the return of its annual Philly Pheast benefit, an evening of culinary excellence and giving back to the next generation of chef-driven and culinary-minded individuals, on Monday, April 28 from 6pm – 9:30pm hosted at Michael Solomonov’s event venue Lilah (1601 N Front Street). This year, a line-up of acclaimed local chefs will collaborate to pay homage to the legendary Chef Jean Marie Lacroix.
C•CAP is a national nonprofit that connects 23,000 students annually to opportunities in the hospitality industry through hospitality and culinary education, college scholarships, and career development. In the Philadelphia region, C•CAP works with 20 high schools and 1,600 students in Camden, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Philly Pheast is designed to engage established local chefs and alumni with C-CAP students at various Philadelphia and surrounding suburban schools for one-night-only by working together on a menu of hors d’oeuvres, followed by a multi-course dinner, and scholarships ceremony in which students who have trained and competed will be awarded scholarships to the most prestigious culinary programs and universities across the country.
To honor the Lacroix legacy, the family-style, multi-course dinner will be prepared and presented by three Lacroix alumni: Chef David Jansen, Chef/Owner of Jansen, Mt. Airy’s contemporary and award-winning fine dining restaurant, Chef Townsend Wentz, Chef/Owner of the ever-evolving Townsend Wentz Restaurant Group (Townsend, Oloroso, A Mano, Oltremare, The Hayes, Caribou Cafe), and Chef Eric Leveillee, Executive Chef of Chef Jean Marie Lacroix’s eponymous fine-dining restaurant Lacroix at the Rittenhouse.
Preceding dinner will be a cocktail reception at 6pm boasting hors d’oeuvres courtesy of C-CAP alumni chefs and current students, spearheaded by Larry Washington, fellow Lacroix alumni and Rosemont College’s Executive Chef. An assortment of desserts will be provided by Lacroix alumni and C-CAP’s own Chef Ligia Richter.
