Halloween is creeping closer, and Philadelphia is pulling out all the stops with its spookiest and most spectacular seasonal offerings and events. Cake Life Bake Shop, Philadelphia’s award-winning artisanal bakery, is getting into the spooky spirit with boo-tiful Halloween-themed treats, including the bewitching Monster Funfetti Cupcakes ($7.50), available during the week before Halloween in shocking green, orange, yellow, and purple icing; complete with kooky edible eyes and mouths fixed in mischievous facial expressions. Dessert lovers can also dig into Festive Fiesta and Funfetti Cupcakes ($5), sprinkled with orange, black, and yellow sparkles and topped with a black glitter-dipped cherry on top. 

The Fishtown bakery’s Halloween cupcakes will be available for in-store pick-up and delivery via Uber Eats – customers can pre-order online now. Orders must be completed by 2pm four days prior to the desired pick-up or delivery date.

Townsend, Chef Townsend Wentz’s French restaurant and bar on East Passyunk Avenue, is embracing the Halloween spirit with special festivities. On Halloween, Townsend will open early at 3 PM and offer a special promotion featuring two signature cocktails priced at $10 throughout the evening. The featured cocktails include the Spiced Punch, made with Spanish brandy, overproof Jamaican rum, fresh fruit juices, and spiced demerara, and the Autumnal Daiquiri, crafted with Jamaican rum, lime, and smoked cinnamon. Additionally, Townsend will engage with the local community by distributing candy to trick-or-treaters along the avenue.

HALLOWEEN-THEMED POP UP BARS + ACTIVATIONS

Art in the Age, the beloved Philadelphia brand and spirits company recently celebrated for launching Graverobber Unholy Rye nationwide, is thrilled to announce an October chock-full of spooky, scary, boozy Halloween events, pop-ups, tastings and more

  • Saturday, October 12, 6pm and 8 pm – Bloodletting and Burials Tours at The Betsy Ross House run every Saturday in October at 6 and 8pm, with Art in the Age on site on October 12 vending specialty cocktails. Travel back to 1760 Philadelphia and learn about the city’s gruesome history of infection and inoculation.  Meet at Betsy’s grave in the Betsy Ross House courtyard and uncover true, macabre tales about bloodletting, smallpox, yellow fever, and other gross experiences. Along the way, meet figures who lived through the ghastly 18th century and discover why Philadelphia was an infectious place to be! Then, head inside for a spooky, shadowy tour.   • Thursday, October 17, 6 – 7 pm – Home Brewed Events, Art in the Age Siege of Wolves Spiced Rum, and Two Locals Brewing join forces for an evening of full-moon yoga and howling at the moon! Yoga takes place at The Yard, located across the street from Two Locals Brewing (3675 Market St). Explore the connections between yoga, the moon and this spirit. Move through an hour yoga class outside at the Yard (across the street from Two Locals) as the full moon rises in the sky. A moon- inspired flow will be led by Meredith Megan Rebar, a 200-hour certified yoga teacher who graduated from Monarch Yoga. The all-level class will be followed by a special tasting of Siege of Wolves (with special bottles for sale) and spooky-themed cocktails available all evening! Tickets available online here.   • Friday, October 25, 6 – 10pm – Join Art in the Age at the recently revived HAUNT Halloween pop-up bar, this time at foundation.. and broad hall., the sublevel venues located below the famously haunted Divine Lorraine. Guests can shop hair-raising wares from a bevy of local artists and makers while sipping bone-chilling specialty cocktails (PAYG) featuring Art in the Age Spirits, while a DJ keeps spirits high with a mix of Halloween-friendly tunes. $5 entry cost at the door.

Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Center City’s swanky rooftop lounge with panoramic views of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, City Hall, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is offering an unparalleled immersion into spooky season with its third installment of Haunted Heights at Assemblyfrom Friday, October 25 through Thursday, October 31.This Halloween-themed pop-up will feature spirited decor, spook-tacular libations and desserts, a DJ spinning haunted tunes on Friday, Saturday and Halloween night, fire pits, and more.  

In the spirit of arguably the most beloved adult holiday, Assembly is stepping up with a smorgasbord of spooky libations. Highly anticipated featured cocktails include:

Nightmare Before Tinsel, Philadelphia’s favorite Halloween pop-up bar located in the heart of Midtown Village, has made its annual debut on none other than this past Friday the 13th running through Thursday, October 31. Thispopular pop-up bar brings a new theme dubbed “Haunted Mansion” and has launched of an expansive second-floor allowing guests twice the space to enjoy all of the ghoulishly-good cocktails and brews, over-the-top décor, and nightmarish surprises such as cocktails including Blood Bag (Kiki Vodka, peach, cranberry); Drunkula (Maker’s Mark Whiskey, hot cider, whipped cream, cinnamon); Morgue-a-rita (Corralejo Tequila, blood orange, lime, honey); Goblin! For those looking for a family-friendly Halloween celebration, Patchwork, a lively restaurant and bar focused on New American cuisine nestled on the second floor of the Hyatt Centric Philadelphia, is hosting an all-ages Halloween Brunch featuring Disney’s FrozencharactersAnna and Elsa. On Sunday, October 27 from 10:00am-1:00pm, families are invited to dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy story time, face painting and signed photos with the famous Frozen sisters. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! The Twisted Tail, Headhouse Square’s Southern-inspired restaurant, whiskey Mecca and live music venue is paying homage to the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with a Beetlejuice Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26from 8:00 pm to midnight. Live music will fill the night, and as the clock strikes 11 pm, Witching Hour Drink Specials will begin, offering a new featured drink every 15 minutes until midnight. Costumes will be encouraged, with three exciting prizes available for the best dressed. A themed social media photo area will be set up for guests to capture memories of the night.

Uptown Beer Garden, Philadelphia’s premier beer garden, has officially launched its annual Halloween pop-up with an all-new theme, Uptown’s Freak Show, running now through October 31 at 1500 John F Kennedy Blvd. This year’s extravaganza features life-sized monsters, intricate installations, carnival games, and a lineup of spooky cocktails served in vibrant novelty cups, including the Ringleader (White Claw Mango Vodka, White Claw Pineapple Vodka, cranberry, and Sprite) and the BloodBag (vodka, peach, cranberry), and the Ungourdly Good (Espolon Tequila, Skrewball Whiskey, cold brew, Pennsylvania Dutch pumpkin crème). Guests can also enjoy themed bites like Chili Dogs and FriedOreos while soaking in the immersive, carnival-inspired atmosphere. Uptown’s Freak Show is open Monday through Friday from 4 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM, with happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM on weekdays.
