The Philly Comedy Fest Brings 12 Hours of Comedy to Gaul & Co. Malt House

Gaul & Co. Malt House will play host to the first-ever Philly Comedy Fest, a 12-hour festival and showcase of live comedy, podcasts, music, and more, slated for this upcoming Labor Day Weekend on Sunday, September 3 from 12pm – 12am, held at the Port Richmond location. 

Presented by Good Boy Comedy, the Philly Comedy Fest will feature performances from fan-favorite Philadelphia-bred comics including (but not limited to) Matt McCusker, Ian Fidance, Tim Butterly, Shawn Gardini, Ryan Shaner, LeMaire Lee, Dru Montana, Na’im Ali, and Rob Crews, to name a few, plus live podcast recordings and musical performances!

Gaul & Co. Malt House’s food and beverages will be available for pay-as-you-go during the event. Tickets are available for $100 per person here.

The Dutch Hosts a Summer Swigs Happy Hour

The Dutch will play host to East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District’s (EPABID) Summer Swigs happy hour, on Wednesday, September 6 from 5 – 7pm. Summer Swigs is a weekly Wednesday happy hour that first launched last month and runs though September 20. Imbibers can look forward to indulging in No Problem Craig, a clarified spicy margarita made with watermelon, jalapeño, and a taijin rim, for just $6 during Summer Swigs at The Dutch. Guests will also be able to take advantage of The Dutch’s regular happy hour, which is available Wednesday through Saturday from 5 – 7pm. Current offerings include:

  • Chow Chow ($5) – Pickled seasonal vegetables
  • House-Cut Fries ($5)
  • Fond’s Chicken Liver Mousse ($7) – Pickled red onion, sourdough bread

Jam Out at the Inaugural East Passyunk Music Festival

East Passyunk Business Improvement District (EPABID) will be holding the first-ever East Passyunk Music Festival on Sunday, September 10 from 11am – 6pm between Broad and Dickinson Streets. Family friendly and free to attend, the East Passyunk Music Festival will feature 20+ musicians, bands, and performers, plus delicious food and beverage offerings, street vendors and craftspeople, and other fun! Here are just a few of the many incredible performances guests can look forward to:

  • Batalá Philly – Community supported samba-reggae all percussion band
  • Casey Parker Band – Local restauranteur Casey Parker rocks out
  • City Rhythm Orchestra – Extraordinary group that’s performed for over 30 years

Dock Street Brewing Company Holds Fall Market and “Docktoberfest”

Dock Street Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s award-winning woman-owned and operated original craft brewery founded in 1985, is welcoming the new season with a Fall Market at Dock Street South in Point Breeze on Sunday, September 10 from 12 to 4 pm featuring an array of local vendors offering plants, fiber art, prints, vintage books, and more as well as local mainstay DJ Curtis Remarc spinning tunes.

At the end of the month, Dock Street South’s annual Docktoberfest on Saturday, September 30 from 12 to 4 pm features a stein-holding competition, food and drink specials, polka dance troupe and instructor, and brews on brews on brews including Dock Street’s new Docktoberfest ($7.50), a golden colored medium bodied lager has a fresh bread aroma and flavor that leads to a crisp, thirst quenching finish.

Say “So Long” to Summer at First-Ever Stratus Rooftop Lounge Sunset Soirée

Stratus Rooftop Lounge is bidding summer farewell and welcoming the autumn equinox with its inaugural Sunset Soirée slated for Friday, September 15 from 6 – 8pm for a VIP party and select open bar, followed by 9pm – 2am for general admission. Those attending the VIP portion of the affair can look forward to live performing by Philly-based R&B band Suede Lace, lawn games like corn hole and giant Jenga, two-hour open bar, pay-as-you-go specialty cocktails and fare, and much more.

Tickets to the VIP experience are priced at $30 per person and available here.

General admission will be open to the public starting at 9pm with a $10 cover charge, and include live acts like LED wing performers and DJ Capps spinning vinyl.

Xfinity Live! Continues its Pre-Concert “Tailgate” Series

Xfinity Live! is continuing its pre-concert “tailgate” series for the summer of pop diva mega-tours with a two-day pre-party for Doylestown native and pop powerhouse, P!NK! The dynamic sports-anchored super-venue located in the heart of South Philadelphia is throwing the the ultimate P!NK pre-concert party, P!NKapalooza, prior to each concert on Monday, September 18 and Tuesday, September 19 from 4 to 8 pm.

Hosted by special guest, Brittany Lynn of Philly Drag Mafia, P!NKapalooza will include a DJ playing P!NK’s iconic anthems,themed yardstick cocktails, 360 Photo Booth and photo activations, costume contest, and more. Stephanie Thompson of Glitter Beep Boop will onsite both days selling $10 1 oz plastic jars of body glitter and offering optional glitter application for pay what you wish.

Poi Dog and Citrine host ‘The Maui Dinner’:

On Friday, September 22, Kiki Aranita, the renowned chef best known for her beloved Hawaiian restaurant-turned-sauce brand Poi Dog, joined by chef (and husband) Ari Miller, will serve a 5-course, Hawaiian-inspired ‘Maui Dinner’ at Citrine, the artisanal tablescape, flatware, and event curation company directed by Alex Cahanap. $50 from each ticket sold will directly benefit Chef Hui, an O’ahu-based non-profit that connects chefs, food industry workers, and farmers with resources needed to fuel Hawaii’s agricultural and culinary scene.

Admission to The Maui Dinner, which takes place at Citrine’s intimate dinner-party-style gathering space (1220 N. Lawrence Street, Philadelphia) is $150/person, with $50 from each ticket donated to support those in distress on the island. The Maui Dinner is one-night-only but offers two seatings with a capacity of 20 people each, held at 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm; with the five courses highlighting some of Aranita’s most beloved dishes inspired by her childhood and adolescence spent in Hawai’i, as well as a signature welcome cocktail, and live music. Celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month at The Twisted Tail’s 8th Annual Whiskey Bonanza

Whiskey lovers rejoice! In celebration of Bourbon Heritage MonthThe Twisted Tail, Headhouse Square’s Southern-inspired restaurant, bar and music venue known for its extensive brown spirits collection and nightly live blues, is thrilled to announce the 8th Annual Whiskey Bonanza, a one-of-a-kind whiskey tasting event featuring more than 100 whiskeys, a riveting cocktail competition with top Philly bartenders, a signature southern pig roast, live music and more whiskey-themed festivities.
