May 31, 2022 — This spring and summer, imbibers can stay “hydrated” with a little help from delicious frozen drinks that are 100% worth the brain freeze. We’ve rounded up ice-cold elixirs from Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Silk City Diner Bar & Lounge, Bluebird Distilling, New Liberty Distillery, and The Twisted Tail – all perfect for battling the scorching 90°+ temps all summer long.

Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Center City’s swanky rooftop lounge with panoramic views of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, City Hall, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, has a bevy of delicious frozen cocktails on the newly-launched spring/summer menu, featuring the fan-favorite Frosé ($16), crafted with rosé, Cocchi Rosa, dry vermouth, strawberry, and lemon, and Frozen Lemonade ($16), composed of gin, Salers Aperitif, and housemade lemonade. For those unable to decide between the two tipples, Philly Vice ($16) is a mix of both craft cocktails in one glass — making for the ultimate, indulgent refresher.

Silk City Diner, Bar & Lounge, the eclectic retro diner and lounge with adjacent art and artifact-filled garden, boasts an extensive seasonal beverage menu, with two standout frozen libations including Painkiller ($12), fashioned with Cruzan Island Spiced Rum, pineapple, coconut, and dark rum float, and Blood Orange Margarita ($12), composed of Hornitos Plata Tequila, blood orange, lime, and orange. Bluebird Distilling, award-winning grain-to-glass craft distillery, offers a stellar selection of seasonal sippers at their expansive Phoenixville distillery and tasting room with spacious covered outdoor patio. Their state-of-the-art frozen drink machine can freeze a bottle of bourbon into slushy form in just 20 seconds and flavors rotate weekly from frozen Gin and Tonics, to this week’s timely rendition of a Frozen Dirty Shirley ($10/$12), fashioned with Bluebird 100% Rye vodka, sprite, grenadine, and cherry. New Liberty Distillery, South Kensington’s craft distillery and home to award-winning spirit lines such as the revived heritage Kinsey brand, recently launched its lush al fresco cocktail garden just in time for patio season, complete with a rejuvenated craft cocktail menu featuring a breezy and tropical Surf’s Up ($12) crafted with Dreadnought White Rum, Single Prop Coconut Rum, cream of coconut, pineapple, house tiki bitters, and cherry.
