April 27, 2021 — ‘Tis the season for sipping cocktails on the patio with pals, while taking in the sun and rising temps! We’ve rounded up some of our go-to Philadelphia restaurants, bars, beer and wine gardens offering outdoor seating and drinking this spring and summer.

Art in the Age, Old City’s one-of-a-kind tasting room, home bar supply and bottle shop, offers Golden Hour, a socially-distanced happy hour daily from 3 – 5 pm featuring $2 off small batch bottled cocktails and $1 off local craft beer and cider at their outdoor cocktail garden. Stay and sip your bottled cocktails in the garden or grab a four-pack to take to the beach, park hangs, stoop sitting, etc.

Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Center City’s rooftop lounge with panoramic views of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, City Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, boasts expansive outdoor seating with their vast chic rooftop, fit for sipping on popular frozen cocktails whilst taking in sweeping views of the parkway. Happy hour specials are available from 4 – 6 featuring a full menu of small bites, craft beer, cocktails, and wine.

The Bourse, Old City’s modern artisanal food hall, offers imbibers the choice of delicious Mimosas and Bloody Marys from Grubhouse Philly, and local and domestic brews available for purchase at Freebyrd Chicken. Folks can enjoy these libations at The Bourse’s expansive outdoor 5th St. patio during the spring and summer months.

Devil’s Den, the South Philly spot for pub fare and an extensive beer selection, has a plethora of frozen popsicles, craft cocktails, local draft and bottled beer, and a selection of wines available for sipping at their spacious streetery for outdoor dining. Weekend brunch service consists of $5 Mimosas and Bloody Marys on the street-side patio.


Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 4 – 9 pm, Saturday from 11 am – 9 pm, and Sunday from 11 am – 9 pm, with brunch service on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am – 2 pm.

East Passyunk Avenue, home to over 150 independently-owned businesses in South Philadelphia, is an ideal spot to stroll and sip whilst catching some rays. Various Avenue restaurants such as Barcelona Wine Bar, Flannel, Cantina Los Caballitos, Pub on Passyunk East, La Scala’s Birra, Separatist Beer Project, and Bing Bing Dim Sum offer spacious venues for outdoor dining and drinking with stellar happy hour specials, in addition to takeaway and delivery.

Fond, the acclaimed French-focused restaurant on East Passyunk Avenue, is ready for al fresco drinks on the patio with an expanded seating area on 11th and Tasker and killer libations such as specialty cocktails including Feelin’ Vaxxed, composed of rum, blackberry, lemon, and basil, exclusive wine by the glass or bottle, and local craft beer, in addition to delicious menu offerings.

Forsythia, Old City’s French bar and restaurant helmed by Chef Christopher Kearse, provides an ever-evolving beverage menu including tasty tipples, vast selection of bold wines by the glass and bottle, and craft beer in addition to their seasonal, delicious French-forward dinner menu. Imbibers are welcome to take a seat at their sidewalk set-up and sip on Rosé, Grenache-Syrah, or a signature drink, Body of the Year, composed of Foie Gras Washed Maker’s Mark Whiskey, Oloroso Sherry, and candied orange.

Jet Wine Garden, Jet Wine Bar’s adjacent outdoor oasis, operates table service with a bevy of refreshing cocktails, brews, and of course – global wines in addition to small bites at their vibrant and lush garden area. Guests are invited to imbibe from an array of white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines while enjoying the rising temps this spring and summer. Additionally, Jet Wine Bar will continue to operate as a bottle shop, with wine, beer, sangria, and cocktails to-go — available for curbside pick-up or online order.


Opening hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 4 – 9 pm, Friday from 4 – 10 pm, Saturday from 12 –11 pm, and Sunday from 12 – 8 pm, and closed on Monday.

MilkBoy South Street, part of the iconic, Philadelphia-born MilkBoy brand known for booze, bites, and great music, has taken streetery to a whole new level with their expanded and covered outdoor seating area, while MilkBoy Philly, the landmark locale of the iconic Philadelphia-born brand located in Center City, offers plenty of sidewalk seating and happy hour on Monday through Friday from 4 – 6 pm which includes $2 off draft beer, glasses of wine, and cocktails. Both spots boast stellar menus featuring mixed drinks, canned beers, and a unique selection of house-made seltzers for imbibers to enjoy al fresco.

Philadelphia Brewing Company, the city’s largest and oldest brewery located in Kensington, holds an expansive beer garden open for service year-round with covered picnic tables galore available for patrons to take a seat, grab a pint (or six-pack) of Walt Wit, Working Cat, or Kenzinger, BYO food, and enjoy the warm weather. Bonus: the beer garden is dog-friendly, too!

REX 1516, Philadelphia’s go-to for elevated Southern cuisine, remains open for take-out, delivery and outdoor dining at their streetery set-up. Half a dozen cocktails including their Horned Lake Hurricane, Tequila Thrasher, Gin Mot Mot, and more are available to-go or for sipping outdoors at their South Street location.


REX 1516 is open Monday through Thursday 1 pm – 8 pm, Friday & Saturday 12 pm – 9 pm, and Sunday 12 pm – 8 pm. Outdoor dining services are open after 5 pm every day weather permitting.

Royal Boucherie, Old City’s American brasserie specializing in French-style cuisine, offers quite the extensive curated craft cocktail and French-forward wine selection, as well as brand-new sidewalk streetery and the return of their second-floor, verdant rooftop garden – one of Philadelphia’s most hidden gems. Imbibers are welcome to sip on a tasty tipple such as the À La Philly, composed of Northbound Rye Whiskey, Bénédictin, sweet vermouth, absinthe and Peychaud’s, at one of their many outdoor tables.

Silk City Diner Bar & Lounge, the eclectic Northern Liberties diner and lounge, is ready for summer with expanded outdoor seating including a new streetery on Lawrence and café seating along Spring Garden, in addition to Silk’s magic garden – filled with art, sculpture and other visual treats from restaurateur Mark Bee’s findings in and around Philly. The space calls for having a specialty cocktail with friends, such as their Spicy Margarita, Rotating Mule, and Spiced Apple Red Sangria.

Stratus Rooftop Lounge, the chic, newly-renovated open-air rooftop bar and lounge located just across from historic Independence Hall, has returned for Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7 pm for folks to dine and drink outdoors at their swanky Old City rooftop.

Urban Farmer, Logan Square’s modern American steakhouse, brings variety to their beverage menu with a bevy of hot, chilled, and virgin cocktails, available for sipping on their sweeping outdoor patio – overlooking the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Imbibers can choose from an extensive menu featuring Farm Toddy, Mulled Wine, House Martini’s and Manhattans, Seasonal Old Fashioned, and non-alcoholic takes on a Paloma and Moscow Mule.
