18 February 2019 – On Sunday, February 24th from 6-8pm, guests are invited to attend the Let Them Eat Cake – Under the Sea cake-off benefitting Variety Children’s Charity and children with disabilities at the Loews Hotel’s Millennium Ballroom.
Now in its 16th year, Let them Eat Cake has earned a reputation as one of the premier culinary events on the Philadelphia calendar. As one of the nation’s biggest cake-off fundraisers, guests can expect to sample cakes from twenty-five of the area’s best party chefs while enjoying cocktails, wine, and other beverages.
This year’s focus is on Variety Works — where teens and young adults with disabilities learn real job skills.
A panel of celebrities and noted culinary experts, including Food Network competitor Colette Peters — cake maker to the stars (the Clintons, Diane Von Furstenberg, the Prince of Greece…), are determining this year’s Best in Show winner based on taste, theme, aesthetic, creativity and use of ingredients. Additional awards are to be given for Best Tasting Cake, Best Design, Best Theme, Best Student Entry and Audience Choice Award.
Philadelphia Eagles representatives attending will help give away two adaptive tricycles to a special boy and girl, and Eagles’ mascot Swoop will pose with attendees for photos at 6pm. Music will be provided by Mole Street making for a fun and upbeat backdrop in one of Philadelphia’s most iconic ballrooms.
Three of this year’s competitors are aspiring chefs from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill
