Philadelphians looking to be the shell of the ball and celebrate National Oyster Day on August 5 will find that the city is, well, their oyster, thanks to these pearls of programming and specials from some of Philly’s hottest restaurants and bars, including Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Forsythia, Patchwork, Royal Boucherie, and Rex at The Royal.

The Grove at Assembly Rooftop Lounge, an urban jungle respite nine floors in the sky, has a new Oyster and Prosecco Bar made in partnership with Aaron Gordon of 13th Street Cocktails. Guests can enjoy glasses of Prosecco on draft ($8) alongside a selection of fresh East and West Coast oysters ($1 off Market Price) shucked to order from 4 – 6pm every Tuesday through Friday.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday: 4 – 6pm and Sunday through Saturday: 4pm – last 90-minute seating at 10:30pm

Forsythia, Old City’s contemporary French bar and restaurant helmed by Chef Christopher Kearse, is teaming up with Fever-Tree and Peroni for a special National Oyster Day happy hour on Friday, August 5 from 5 – 7pm. Chef Kearse will be personally shucking oysters in the front of the restaurant alongside reps from Fever Tree and Peroni who will have treats and surprises for those in attendance.

Beverage Director Shawn Miller is serving up a unique craft cocktail that pairs perfectly with oysters on the half shell, dubbed “Pineapple Under The Sea” composed of gin, salted pineapple, lime zest, Peychaud’s Bitters, and Fever-Tree Yuzu Lime Soda.

Hours of operation: Wednesday through Sunday, 5 – 10pm for dinner service, Saturday and Sunday 10:30am – 2pm for brunch service

Patchwork, a lively restaurant and bar focused on New American cuisine, located on the second floor of Hyatt Centric Center City, has an Oyster Special available on National Oyster Day (August 5)! Diners and imbibers can get in the shucking spirit with half-a-dozen “Summer of Love” Oysters paired with a Ballroom Spritz, made with St. Germain, sparkling rosé, and club soda, for $24.

Rex at The Royal, Philly’s destination for elevated Southern and Lowcountry cuisine, is paying homage to the magnificence of mollusks with their National Oyster Day Menu, available on Friday, August 5. The menu’s curated offerings include two festive cocktails – Walrus & Carpenter ($14) with Finlandia Vodka, oyster shell-infused vermouth blanc, herbs de provence, and lemon peel, as well as the Oyster Shooter with fennel and black pepper infused Finlandia Vodka, house fermented hot sauce, lemon, dill, and celery salt – as well as three oyster dishes with optional wine pairings, like Broiled Oysters ($10) with foraged ramp butter and citrus breadcrumbs paired with Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc ($17.50/glass or $70/bottle).

These Oyster Day offerings come in addition to their robust raw bar and seafood tower options that are available daily.

Royal Boucherie, Old City’s lively and atmospheric neighborhood bistro, is celebrating National Oyster Day on Friday, August 5 with a festive cocktail titled the Gin-onette, fashioned with Hendrick’s Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth, and house mignonette — accompanied by an icy platter of half dozen oysters, all for just $20/person.

Hours of Operation: Wednesday through Friday 4 – 10pm, Saturday 12 – 10pm, Sunday 10am – 3pm and 4pm – 9pm.
