June 15, 2022–It’s time to break out the bib and butter because National Lobster Day is finally here! We’ve rounded up our favorite Philly area lobster offerings from Assembly Rooftop Lounge, Royal Boucherie, Rex at The Royal, Square 1682, and Playhouse Deck in order to plan a proper crustacean celebration.

The Grove at Assembly Rooftop Lounge, an urban jungle respite nine floors in the sky, offers a seafood-centric menu including a delicious Lobster Roll ($18) on a brioche bun complete with crème fraiche aioli and potato chips. Diners can enjoy this spotlight dish while basking in the tropical ambiance of The Grove, not to mention Philadelphia’s best view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday: 4 pm–6 pm and Sunday through Saturday: 4 pm–last 90-minute seating at 10:30 pm

Royal Boucherie, Old City’s lively and atmospheric neighborhood bistro, is no stranger to featuring the scrumptious shellfish on its robust European-inspired menu, notably, a savory Lobster Cocktail ($18) in addition to its Plateaus De La Mer ($48-$98), a chilled assortment of fresh shellfish. Additionally, Royal Boucherie boasts a mouthwatering Lobster Benedict ($24) decked out with ‘nduja, a spicy salume spread, and kale during its Sunday brunch, from 10 AM until 3 PM.

Hours: Wednesday through Thursday: 4pm–10pm. Friday: 4pm–11pm. Saturday: 12pm–11pm, Sunday: 10am–9pm.

Rex at The Royal, Philly’s destination for elevated Southern and Lowcountry cuisine, features a fresh Lobster Salad ($29) tossed with scallion buttermilk ranch, shaved fennel, pickled corn, celery, and served with benne seed crackers. The salad is additionally featured in the menu’s star of the show— a Seafood Plateau ($69) filled to the brim with assorted coastal treats including half a dozen oysters, shrimp cocktail, local catch crudo, and the aforementioned lobster salad.

Hours: Sunday through Thursday: 5 pm–10 pm. Friday through Saturday 5 pm–11 pm. Sunday Brunch: 11am–2:30pm.

Square 1682, the modern American kitchen located at the intersection of 17th and Sansom streets, offers the famed Surf ‘n’ Turf (M/P) during dinner service all summer long – ideal for celebrating National Lobster Day. This crowd-pleasing dish consists of Filet Mignon, half-pound Lobster, rosemary jus, and drawn butter, served with crab fries.

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 5 pm–10 pm and weekend brunch service on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am–2 pm.

Playhouse Deck, a modern, yet laid-back perch over the Delaware River tucked behind the legendary Bucks County Playhouse, is kicking off its brand-new Lobster Roll Special just in time for National Lobster Day, on Wednesday, June 15. Every Wednesday, New Hope locals and travelers alike can indulge in a toppling Lobster Roll ($40) consisting of a whopping six ounces of juicy lobster, nearly double the amount on a standard roll, packed onto a grilled potato roll with a side of hot, crispy fries.

Hours: Wednesday through Thursday: 4 pm – 9 pm and Friday through Sunday: 12 pm – 9 pm. Bar menu only: Wednesday through Sunday: 9 pm – 10 pm.
