November 23, 2021 – Espresso drinkers listen up! National Espresso Day is on Tuesday, November 23 and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Philadelphia-based coffee shops and restaurants offering special espresso drinks– as well as a few boozy espresso-infused cocktail recipes to celebrate this special occasion.

Menagerie Coffee at The Bourse Food Hall, Old City’s modern artisanal food hall, is the crowd-pleasing coffee spot for locals and tourists to grab a morning or mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Stop by for classic selections such as lattes, red eyes, or double shots of espresso.

 

Hours of operation at Menagerie Coffee are Monday through Sunday 8am – 4pm.

Hours of operation for The Bourse Food Hall are Monday through Thursday 7 am – 8 pm, Friday through Saturday 7 am – 10 pm, and Sunday 9 am – 6 pm.

BOOZY ESPRESSO COCKTAILS TO MAKE AT HOME

Art in the Age, Old City’s one-of-a-kind tasting room, home bar supply and bottle shop, offers an array of unique and refreshing craft cocktails and recipes – perfect to make for an afternoon pick-me-up at home and a tasty, boozy way to enjoy your coffee.

 

This National Espresso Day, imbibers can create a signature recipe at home. Crafted by Art in the Age bartender Jackie Nevin, this spin on the Espresso Martini is composed of vodka, espresso, whole or oat milk and Dashfire Mole Bitters.

  • 1.5 oz New Liberty Powderhorn Vodka
  • 1.5 oz espresso
  • 3 dashes Dashfire Mole Bitters
  • .75 oz oat milk

Glassware: Martini glass
Garnish: Fine layer of grated cinnamon and three coffee beans
Instructions: Add liquids to shaker tins with ice and shake until chilled thoroughly. Fine strain into martini glass.

Coopers’ Craft Bourbon, Brown Forman’s newest bourbon is a versatile and light bodied bourbon that can be used to make a variety of craft cocktails, including the espresso-based cocktail: Donut Mind If I Do. Donut and bourbon-lovers rejoice for this sweet tooth’s dream.

 

Donut Mind If I Do

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Coopers’ Craft Bourbon
  • 1 shot of espresso
  • 3 oz whole milk (or vanilla oat milk)
  • .75 oz glaze
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste (optional)

Instructions: Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice, and shake until chilled. Strain, garnish, serve. Serve with your favorite donut.
Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon Coopers’ Craft Bourbon

Instructions to make glaze: Combine all in a bowl and mix
Glassware: Mug
Garnish: Glaze rim and rainbow sprinkles or brown sugar
