October 20, 2021 — Fall weather is finally here! With the changing of seasons comes revamped, seasonal menus across the culinary scene in Philadelphia and beyond.  From spices to stews, fall flavors are prominent in creative, delicious dishes from Philly area’s top tier restaurants including Forsythia, North 3rd, Sor Ynez, Stella of New Hope, Royal Boucherie, and The Twisted Tail.

To celebrate the sweater weather season, we’ve gathered standout fare that has embodied the essence of fall.

Forsythia, Chef Christopher Kearse’s contemporary bar and restaurant in Old City, boasts an ever-evolving menu of French plates that rotate monthly and incorporate fresh, locally-sourced seasonal ingredients in each dish. Diners can look forward to a plethora of elevated autumnal offerings including Escargot ($15) prepared with chartreuse-almond butter, butternut squash, and rye, Pumpkin & Truffle Beignets ($13) served with miso apple butter, Scallop Crudo ($16) crafted with green apple, winter radish, cider emulsion, and sea beam, Chicken Leg Confit ($32) prepared with lentils de puy, coffee pumpkin puree, and delicata squash, Apple & Almond Tatin ($12) composed of white chocolate, crème fraîche sherbet, and fennel mousse.

North 3rd, Northern Liberties’ new American bar and grill, has an assortment of mouthwatering, autumnal fare on the menu including delicious starters Autumn Squash Soup ($7) with toasted pecans and chives, Harvest Salad ($12) prepared with mixed greens, honey crisp apple, dried cranberries, red onions, and blue cheese, Roasted Brussels Sprouts ($8) composed of pecans, walnuts, and brown butter, and Seared Duck Breast ($26) crafted with pear and sweet potato hash, sautéed courgettes, and duck jus.

Royal Boucherie, Old City’s lively neighborhood bistro, boasts a robust French-focused dinner menu helmed by Executive Chef Matt Buehler, with standout cozy and enchanting autumnal plates including Bay Scallops ($14) prepared with red wine and chistorra, Delicata Squash ($12) crafted with a squash romesco infused with assorted gourds, nuts and olive oil, and for dessert, Apple Pie ($9) served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Sor Ynez, South Kensington’s authentic and veg-friendly Mexican restaurant, incorporates an array of seasonal vegetables in traditional yet modern Mexican dishes crafted by Executive Chef Alex Tellez. The rotating menu of savory offerings includes two fan-favorite vegan dishes – Brussels Sprouts a la Plancha ($9) composed of maple peanut salsa macha, apples, and cilantro, and Sweet Potato Tacos ($9) prepared with charred sweet potato, chipotle salsa negra, almond queso fresco and pecans, served on fresh corn tortillas.

Stella of New Hope, located in the heart of bustling Main Street overlooking the Delaware River, has recently launched a dinner menu brimming with locally sourced, seasonally-appropriate ingredients such as beets and pomegranate – courtesy of Chef Michael O’Halloran.

This fall, guests can enjoy the essence of fall in the form of beautifully presented dishes including Black Mission Figs served with lemon and rosemary stracciatella, truffle honey, puffed farro, and red shiso and Pickled Beet Salad prepared with blood orange, pomegranate, fresh chevre, beet ash, and toasted oat streusel.

The Twisted Tail,  the popular Southern-inspired restaurant and bar on Headhouse Square, offers an extensive dinner menu stacked with flavorful comfort foods including the Berkshire Pork Chop ($24) crafted with corn, hon-shimeji, and a maple vinaigrette, Fig Salad ($9) prepared with Bibb lettuce, herbs, sherry vinaigrette, and blue cheese, Heirloom Beets ($10) composed of yogurt, candied ginger, and mizuna, and Braised Short Rib ($24) prepared with sweet potato puree and horseradish gremolata.
