July 12, 2017 – This summer, Square 1682, Modern American Kitchen + Cocktails, is taking summer fun to the street, literally, starting today and continuing every Wednesday for the rest of summer, with its brand-new Sidewalk Summertime Chill Zone. The afternoon alternative to Center City SIPS gives mid-week imbibers a fun party atmosphere with well-considered collaborations from local craft distiller Bluebird Distilling and local craft beer from 2SP Brewing Company.

Square 1682 is taking over neighboring Hotel Palomar’s valet area along Sansom Street and lining it with AstroTurf, shallow wading pools, an outdoor horseshoe bar and games such as corn hole. Square 1682’s new outdoor furniture and bright red umbrellas complete the scene.

“We wanted to do something that was really fun this summer, laid back and outdoors, but attracted a little bit more of a grown-up crowd than some of the large, crowded beer gardens and other venues,” said Square 1682 General Manager Christopher Huerte. “Plus, I always wanted to throw a street party with kiddy pools.”

Drink specials come in the way of $10 Bluebird Sugarcane Rum (Light & Stormy) and Juniperus Gin (Gin Rickey) cocktails from accomplished Lead Bartender Daniel Kulisek. A natural performer and singer, Kulisek brings a summertime Yacht Rock play list and performs several songs himself throughout the evening, jumping out from behind the stick to sing.

Square 1682 will also feature 2SP beers ($5) and red, white and rosé wines for $5.
