The Best DNC-inspired Cocktails, Restaurants, and Gelato in Philadelphia

20 July 2016 – The Democratic National Convention is just around the corner and PUNCH Media has the run down of best restaurants, cocktails, #DNCDeals, Hillary-inspired gelato flavors, late-night spots and everything else you need to know about the DNC.

Ocean Prime

Philadelphia’s most lux seafood and steak destination is located smack in the middle of Center City. Ocean Prime is cooking up DNC Viewing Parties: $100 per person includes tax and gratuity for up to 3.5 hours of watching, noshing and imbibing. The package includes wine, beer, and assorted hors d’oeuvres. Cocktails may be added to the package for an additional $15 per. Private viewing rooms are available in Ocean Prime’s Fairmount Room {up to 14}, The Rittenhouse Room {up to 25} and The Manayunk Room {up to 28}.

Additionally, Ocean Prime’s The Delegate cocktail is being mixed special for the DNC and is made with Philadelphia Distilling’s Bluecoat American Dry Gin and Federal Distilling’s Stateside Vodka — the official gin and vodka of the DNC — and both locally produced within the city of Philadelphia. Ocean Prime’s expert bar staff is using Lillet Rosé for and added twist on a classic vesper cocktail. $12

Celebrating the DNC with a specialty cocktail cooked up by lead bartender Daniel Kulisek. Kulisek’s The Hillary: a shot of Bulleit Rye served neat with a Diet Coke on side, garnished with a lemon twist. $12. Additionally Square 1682 will serve Staff Meal trays {a multi-course dinner complete with a Miller Highlife pony} until Midnight during the DNC. $25.

Red Owl Tavern

Red Owl Tavern — the expansive restaurant and bar across the street from Independence Mall and the Liberty Bell — has a super talented Lead Bartender in Kyle Darrow. For the DNC, Darrow is mixing up I’m with Her{b} — a herb-infused El Presidente classic cocktail which plays off a popular Clinton slogan. I’m with Her{b} fuses Bacardi Superior Rum, herb-infused Doling Blanc Vermouth, Cointreau and grenadine. $12 {Photo below}

Additionally, Red Owl is offering a special #DNCDEAL by offering the restaurant’s popular Red Owl Tavern Burger with a Dock Street collaborative beer Red Awl Ale — exclusive to Red Owl Tavern — for $20.16 at lunch for the week of the DNC.

Red Owl Tavern’s full dinner service extends to 1:30am Monday-Thursday during the convention.

Capofitto in Old City and Capogiro locations across town, is offering various DNC themed flavors of their award-winning Capogiro gelato. Think Hillary Hot Sauce – Chocolate gelato with a hot pepper caramel swirl, I’m Not Baking Cookies – Fior di latte with chocolate chip cookie crumbles, and Feel the Burnt Sugar. Additionally, all locations will have extended hours during the DNC.
