As the second-annual Philly Wine Week embarks a on week-long wine appreciation and celebration, Sassafras and Paradiso host events that will make even the most jaded of oenophiles swoon. Monday, March 23, Sassafras is hosting Old World Revival with flights of exceptional Chablis, Mourvedre, Pinot Nior, and Melbac. Chef Matt will also offer his recommendations on food parings. Old World Revival is 7-9 pm, $25. On Wednesday, Paradiso is hosting the ultimate Old World vs. New World smack-down from 6:30 pm, $25. This exciting event includes four pours- ‘La Cle Saint Pierre Chardonnay and Pinot Nior representing Old World and Queen of Hearts Chardonnay and Pinot Nior representing New World – each paired with small bites, including brandade croquette, Wild Boar Pate’s Japanese Plum, Fluke crudo, kumquat and duck polpette . Also on Wednesday, Sassafras is hosting There’s Wine In My Whiskey featuring spirits aged in wine barrels, such as Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay,  7-9pm, $20. Then on Friday, Paradiso invites you to end your week with Wine at Nine. This after dinner event includes one port paired with a chocolate dessert and one sherry paired with cheese from Paradiso’s incomparable cheese cart. Wine at Nine starts at 9pm and is $15.
